Violent Behavior
Violent behavior is a situation where someone commits acts that could endanger the physical self, others or the environment. This is done to express irritation or anger is not constructive. (Stuart and Sundeen, 1995)
Causes
To affirm the above information, the client's mental illness, violent behavior may be caused by the disruption of self-esteem: low self esteem. Individual self-esteem is about achieving self-assessment by analyzing how much behavior in accordance with the ideal self. Where disturbance of self-esteem can be described as negative feelings about themselves, lose self-confidence, sense of failure to reach the desire.
Clinical Symptoms
- Feeling ashamed of yourself from the disease and measures against the disease (hair bald because of therapy)
- Guilt about yourself (criticize / blame themselves)
- Impaired social relationships (pull away)
- Less confident (hard decision)
- Injure themselves (a result of low self-esteem accompanied by a gloomy expectations, maybe the client will terminate a life.
Nursing Diagnosis
- Injure themselves, others and the environment associated with violent behavior
- Violent behavior associated with impaired self-esteem: low self esteem.
Nursing Intervention
- General Objectives : The client does not hurt to make the management of violence
- Specific Objectives :
- Clients can build a trusting relationship.
Intervention :- Construct a trusting relationship: therapeutic greetings, empathy, call a nurse and explain the purpose of interaction.
- Call client with a preferred nickname.
- Talk with an attitude of calm, relaxed and not challenging.
- Clients can identify the causes of violent behavior.
Intervention :- Give a chance to express feelings.
- Help clients to express feelings of annoyance / irritation.
- Listen to an expression of feeling angry and hostile feelings of the client with poise.
- Clients can identify signs of violent behavior.
Intervention :- Encourage clients to express an experienced and feels annoyed / upset.
- Signs of violent behavior observation.
- Conclude with the client signs of annoyance / irritation experienced by clients.
- Clients can identify the usual violent behavior.
Intervention :- Expressed encourage violent behavior are wont to do.
- Help play a role in accordance with the usual violent behavior.
- Ask "What is done in a way that the problem is solved?"
- Clients can identify due to violent behavior.
Intervention :- Talk consequence / loss from how that is done.
- Together with the client to conclude a result of the methods used.
- Ask if you want to learn healthy new ways.
- Clients can identify constructive ways of responding to anger.
Intervention :- Give a compliment to know that a healthy way.
- Discuss other ways healthy. Physically: Inhale and exhale in if you are upset, exercise, hitting the pillow / mattress.
- Verbally: say that you're angry or upset / offended.
- Spiritually: pray, prayer, asking God to be patience.
- Clients can identify ways to control violent behavior.
Intervention :- Help choose the most appropriate way.
- Help identify the benefits that have been chosen way.
- Help simulates the way you have chosen.
- Give positive reinforcement for successes achieved in the simulation.
- Suggest using chosen as annoyed / angry.
- Clients have the support of the family.
Intervention :- Give health education on how to treat clients melaluit family gatherings.
- Give positive reinforcement for family involvement.
- Clients could use the drug correctly (according to the program).
Intervention :- Discuss with the client about the drug (name, dosage, frequency, effect and side effects).
- Help clients mengpnakan drugs to the principle of 5 correct (client's name, medication, dosage, method and time).
- Suggest to discuss the effects and side effect is felt.
- Clients can build a trusting relationship.
